International Convention Attraction Fund (ICAF)

Powering Canada’s Position As a Global Conference Destination

Canada is a premier destination for international business events. The International Convention Attraction Fund (ICAF) was created to prove it to the rest of the world.

Launched through Budget 2023, the International Convention Attraction Fund gave Canadian cities the strategic firepower to compete – and succeed – on the global meetings and events stage.

During its three-year mandate, ICAF fully allocated its funding and delivered results that speak for themselves: 116 major international conferences secured, $40.8 million in committed funding, and a 56% win rate nearly double the national average of ~30%.

The economic case is also compelling: for every dollar invested, ICAF generates a 20:1 return, along with $1.36 in federal tax revenue per dollar.

By equipping Canadian cities with the tools, visibility, and support needed to compete, ICAF is strengthening Canada’s position as a world-class host for events that drive economic growth, build strategic networks, and put our destinations on the map.
